Wouter Everaerts, MD, PhD, is a consultant urologist at the University Hospitals Leuven and an associate professor at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the KU Leuven, Belgium. He completed his urology training at the University Hospitals Leuven and performed a fellowship in uro-oncology and robotic surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. During his training he spent four years in the Laboratory of Ion Channels Research (LICR), KU Leuven, for his PhD research. 

He joined the faculty at KU Leuven in 2016 and became Director of the Urology Residency Program in 2022. His clinical practice focusses on the management of patients with prostate and bladder cancer, with a special interest in robot-assisted surgery. As a clinician scientist in the LICR lab he studies the role of Transient Receptor Potential Channels in the (patho)physiology of the lower urinary tract.
