Toon Van Gorp, MD, PhD earned his medical degree from the University of Leuven (KU Leuven), Belgium in 1999, completed his specialty training as an obstetrician/gynaecologist in 2004, and his subspecialty training in gynaecological oncology in 2009. The past three decades he has worked in the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium. Currently, he is working as a gynaecological oncologist at the University Hospital Leuven/Leuven Cancer Institute in Belgium where he leads the Gynaecological Oncology department. He is the chair of the Belgium and Luxembourg Gynaecological Oncology Group (BGOG) and member of the strategic group of the European Network of Gynaecological Oncological Trial Groups (ENGOT). He is passionate about the treatment of gynaecological tumors and his main focus is translational research, early drug development and clinical trials (phase 1-3) in ovarian, endometrial and cervical cancer.
