Shauni Loopmans is a dedicated bioscience engineer with a strong passion for biomedical research and technology. After earning a master’s degree in Bioscience Engineering at the KU Leuven, she pursued a PhD in Biomedical Sciences in the lab of prof. Geert Carmeliet, where her research focused on the metabolic characterization of primary skeletal cells and its applications in bone tissue engineering. Her work contributed to a deeper understanding of skeletal cell metabolism and its potential for improving regenerative medicine strategies.

In 2023, Shauni joined the VIB Metabolomics Core as a postdoctoral researcher. In this role, she focuses on bridging the gap between biology and technology, ensuring that newly developed metabolomics technologies are rigorously benchmarked and optimized for biological applications. Her work spans a diverse portfolio of biological models, as she collaborates with scientists from various disciplines interested in multi-omics analysis, enabling comprehensive insights into cellular metabolism and systems biology.

Through her expertise and interdisciplinary approach, Shauni continues to advance the field of biomedical sciences by integrating cutting-edge technology with fundamental biological research.
