Olivia
Coleman
Dr. Olivia Coleman is a principal investigator in the lab of Prof. Dirk Haller at the Chair of Nutrition and Immunology at the Technical University of Munich. Prior to this, Olivia completed her BSc at the University of Bristol, UK, followed by her PhD at the Institute of Food Research (now Quadram Institute), UK. Olivia's research focuses on the intersection of epithelial biology, the intestinal microbiota and cancer. Her current work investigates how endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress drives colorectal cancer (CRC), using transgenic murine models, organoid systems and CRC patient cohorts. Through her mucus-focused PhD background, Olivia has a strong interest in uncovering how stress signaling pathways affect the intestinal mucus barrier, and how alterations in the latter contribute to tumour progression and barrier dysfunction in CRC.
