Nieves
Peltzer
Nieves Peltzer is a tenure-track Professor at the Institute of Biomedical Genetics at the University of Stuttgart, where she heads the Department of Genome Editing. She is also an associated member of the CMMC and CECAD Research Center at the University of Cologne. She trained in biotechnology in Argentina, completed her PhD in Life Sciences at the University of Lausanne, and carried out postdoctoral research at the UCL Cancer Institute in London. She subsequently established her independent research group at the University of Cologne before moving to Stuttgart in 2024.
Her research focuses on regulated cell death, inflammation and metabolism, with particular expertise in linear ubiquitination and LUBAC signalling. A major interest of her work is understanding how these pathways control cell survival and metabolic adaptation, and how they influence local and systemic communication between cells and organs. Her work also extends to cancer biology, particularly mechanisms shaping tumour cell death and treatment response.
