Monika is a group leader at the Institute of Neuronal Cell Biology, Technical University of Munich (TUM). Her research focuses on axonal cell biology, particularly microtubule dynamics and posttranslational modifications during synaptic remodeling and neurodegeneration. After earning her Ph.D. at LMU Munich, she completed her habilitation in Neuroscience at TUM in 2022. Monika’s work has advanced understanding of cytoskeletal regulation in neuronal remodeling. She is a member of the Munich Cluster for Systems Neurology (SyNergy) and organizes a biennial “Regulation of Neuronal Microtubules” meeting in Frauenchiemsee, Germany. Her research is supported by grants from the German Research Foundation (DFG), SyNergy, and the Franco-German-University. Awards include the Forcheur-Jean-Marie-Lehn Prize, SyNergy Postdoc Award, and the TUM Habilitation Prize.
