Marijn Kuijpers is a molecular neuroscientist and Assistant Professor in Molecular Mechanisms of Neurodegeneration at Radboud University and Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, the Netherlands. Her laboratory investigates how neuronal organelles, particularly the endoplasmic reticulum and lysosomal system, contribute to synaptic function, axonal maintenance, and vulnerability in disease. Using rodent and human neuronal models, advanced imaging, and protein engineering approaches, her team studies how disruptions in proteostasis and organelle communication contribute to neuronal vulnerability. Through her work, she aims to identify fundamental mechanisms that define neuronal resilience and to develop new strategies for therapeutic intervention in neurodegenerative disorders.
