Keiko Sugimoto is a Team Director at the RIKEN Center for Sustainable Resource Science and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tokyo, Japan. She obtained her PhD from the Australian National University and completed postdoctoral training at the John Innes Centre, UK, where she later established her own research group. Since joining RIKEN in 2007, her research has focused on the molecular basis of cellular reprogramming in plant regeneration. Current work in her group investigates how injury-induced signals activate latent developmental programs and how chromatin environments regulate the activation of key reprogramming regulators.
