Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, US

Dr. Wu is an innovative leader in structural and mechanistic studies of the innate immune system. She is Senior Investigator in the Program in Cellular and Molecular Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital, and Asa and Patricia Springer Professor of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Harvard Medical School. A current focus of her laboratory is inflammasomes – supramolecular complexes that activate inflammatory caspases. She is interested in how inflammasomes are assembled, how IL-1β and IL-18 cytokines are activated, and how the downstream effectors GSDMD and NINJ1 execute membrane damage and pyroptosis. Dr. Wu has received a number of honors, including the Gregori Aminoff Prize from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Dr. Wu is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the National Academy of Medicine.
