Dr. Eunjoon Kim is a neuroscientist and Professor at KAIST, where he also directs the Institute for Basic Science’s Center for Synaptic Brain Dysfunctions. His research focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms that organize synapses, with particular emphasis on synaptic adhesion molecules. By integrating molecular genetics, electrophysiology, imaging, and behavior, his lab investigates how disruptions in synaptic structure and signaling contribute to autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental conditions. His group also studies postsynaptic scaffolding networks and circuit-level consequences of synaptic dysfunction. Dr. Kim leads a multidisciplinary program at IBS and KAIST aimed at uncovering synapse-based mechanisms of brain function and disease.
