Erica
Grant
Erica Grant is a postdoctoral researcher in the Nutrition, Microbiome and Immunity Group, led by Prof. Mahesh Desai, at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH). She completed her undergraduate training in microbiology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), followed by a Master of Public Health (MPH) in One Health at the University of Washington in Seattle, where she received the Top Scholar Award, Russel L. Castner Student Research Award for Master’s Research, and the Global Opportunities Health Fellowship. She joined the Desai lab in 2019 as part of the MICROH (Microbiomes in One Health) doctoral training programme, to investigate the impacts of a fiber-deprived diet on the gnotobiotic mice microbiome in early life. During this time, Erica led the Luxembourgish Fiber Cohort project (LUXFICO), a translational study to investigate effects of low-fiber consumption in humans using multi-omics approaches. She is also the grateful recipient of a training grant from the Fondation du Pélican de Mie et Pierre Hippert‐Faber. In 2022, Erica successfully defended her PhD thesis and has since continued research at LIH as a postdoctoral fellow on the B-MARK project, a public-private collaboration funded by the Luxembourg National Research Fund BRIDGES programme, which builds on the findings of the LUXFICO project.
