Christine Durinx is Managing Director at VIB. She fosters a stimulating, top-notch environment for VIB’s 1950 collaborators, ensures excellent research support, and champions diversity as a source of a challenging and rich working environment. Christine aims to advance AI and computational biology at VIB through establishing a new research center and setting up a research data infrastructure.

Christine holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Antwerp. Previously, she was Executive Director at the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB), making scientific knowledge accessible and impactful, thus ensuring researchers worldwide can leverage data-driven insights to accelerate discovery and innovation. Christine has worked for several pharmaceutical multinationals, in local and international roles. She serves as an advisor and expert on a number of national and international committees.
