Axelle Kerstens leads the VIB BioImaging satellite in Brussels, a hub that provides access to light microscopy technologies. This satellite operates within the broader framework of the VIB BioImaging cores in Leuven and Ghent. Axelle holds a Master’s degree in Biology from Ghent University and began her career at the VIB BioImaging core in Leuven in 2017. 

In 2025, she embraced the challenge of establishing a new imaging satellite on the Etterbeek campus in Brussels, where researchers can receive support in experimental design, image acquisition, and analysis.
