Annelies Emmaneel defended her PhD in bioinformatics in 2022. She holds an MS in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from Ghent University with a specialization in microbiology and bioinformatics. During her PhD she mainly worked with cytometry data and built computational pipelines to classify patients with a primary immunodeficiency and hopes that these pipelines will eventually be integrated in the clinic. Next to her interest in applying computational techniques on biological problems, Annelies also has a fascination for the preprocessing steps of the computational cytometry pipeline. This is why she developed a quality control tool called PeacoQC that can clean all types of cytometry data.
