I am a PhD candidate in Biomedical Sciences in Professor Diana Piol’s laboratory, where I investigate local translation mechanisms in the male and female motor systems. My research focuses on sex differences and neurodegeneration, with the aim of understanding how biological sex shapes neuronal function and vulnerability to disease. Using advanced in vitro models, including microfluidic platforms, primary neuronal cultures, and patient-derived iPSC models, alongside in vivo disease models, I seek to uncover the mechanisms underlying sex-specific features of the nervous system.
