My lab focuses on how the human body senses external stimuli, conveys this signal to the brain, and generates responses via neuronal ion channel receptors, such as how we detect and respond to different temperatures. To understand the molecular mechanism, pharmacological and pathological properties of these ion channel receptors, our lab uses a diverse set of approaches to study their structure and function by combining cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and patch-clamp electrophysiology.
