Schneider
Kai Markus Schneider is a physician-scientist specializing in gastroenterology and hepatology. He is Full Professor at the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD), Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Digital Medicine (EKFZ) and Senior Physician at University Hospital Dresden. His work focuses on the interplay between the gut, liver, and nervous system in health and disease. Dr. Schneider completed his MD and PhD at RWTH Aachen University, where he investigated the role of the intestinal microbiota and immune system in liver disease. He subsequently trained as a resident in gastroenterology and undertook a postdoctoral fellowship working with Christoph Thaiss at the University of Pennsylvania, focusing on neuro-immune crosstalk and the gut-brain axis. Dr. Schneider has authored numerous high-impact publications, and his research has been recognized with prestigious awards, such as the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize, the Theodor-Frerichs-Prize, and the UEG Rising Star Award.
