Jonas
Fleck
Jonas is a Group Leader at the Institute of Human Biology (IHB) in Basel where he and his group develop machine learning methods for organoid engineering and clinical translation. His research focuses on modeling development and disease in human stem cell-derived model systems, combining single-cell multi-omics with generative and mechanistic ML approaches. Before starting his group, Jonas was a postdoctoral scientist at the IHB, working with Gray Camp and Aviv Regev on AI/ML methods for perturbation screens and organoid engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Computational Systems Biology from ETH Zurich, where he worked with Barbara Treutlein on gene regulatory network inference and cell fate decision logic in brain organoids, and an M.Sc. in Molecular Biotechnology from Heidelberg University. Throughout his career, Fleck has developed computational tools and analysis frameworks that are now widely used in the organoid and single-cell genomics community, and has contributed to building comprehensive cell atlases of human organoid systems.
