Lana Vandersarren holds a Master's degree in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from the University of Ghent. In 2019, she obtained her PhD in Health Sciences at the VIB-Inflammation Research Center, where she studied ER stress and Ste20 proteins in immune cells. Driven by a desire to make a more tangible impact on patients’ lives, she transitioned from academia into clinical research.
She began this career as a Clinical Research Associate trainee at a CRO. Later that year she took on the role of Clinical Research Coordinator at the Ghent University Hospital, where she set-up and coordinated various Phase I oncology trials, collaborating closely with medical professionals and interacting directly with patients.
In 2023, her scientific curiosity and immunology background led her to join argenx as a Clinical Scientist. In this current role, she focuses on advancing the clinical development of Phase 3 programs for systemic autoimmune diseases, with the ultimate goal of delivering innovative therapies to patients urgently needing new treatment options.
