Loverix
Liselore Loverix, MD PhD, is a gynaecologist trained at KU Leuven and currently clinical fellow gynaecological oncology at University Hospitals Leuven and Jessa Hasselt. During her training, she focused on a scientific track within the field of gynecological oncology. Supported by FWO, she worked together with VIB, KU Leuven and UZ Leuven on biomarkers for targeted treatment for ovarian cancer. The result of her thesis is the development of the Leuven HRD test, a new NGS-test that helps to predict which patients may benefit most from PARP inhibitor therapy. This test started in the lab but translated quickly into clinical practice and is now part of routine practice for all ovarian cancer patients in Belgium. On Oct. 11, 2023, she defended her thesis “HRD as a genetic marker for ovarian cancer: from one-size-fits-all to a more personalized approach.” Liselore also has a passion for science communication and received both the jury and audience award of the PhD cup in 2024.
