Dr Lakmal Jayasinghe is Chief Scientific Officer at Oxford Nanopore Technologies, where he leads the company’s scientific vision and R&D strategy. Since joining in 2006 following a PhD in chemical biology at the University of Oxford, Lakmal has helped translate nanopore science into a globally adopted sequencing platform.

He has led multidisciplinary teams across chemistry and biologics, driving major advances in sequencing accuracy, scalability, and application breadth. A strong advocate of innovation at the interface of science and business, Lakmal has championed direct RNA sequencing and multi-omics approaches that enable new insights across academia and the biopharma sector.

He works closely with international partners to expand access to sequencing technologies and accelerate their impact on research, industry, and human health.
