Seppe De Schepper is a junior group leader at the VIB Center for Molecular Neurology and Associate Professor at the University of Antwerp. He trained with leading scientists including Prof. Guy Boeckxstaens, Dr. Soyon Hong and Dr. Tim Bartels, developing broad expertise in neuroimmunology and neurodegeneration. His lab focuses on the gut-immune-brain axis, investigating how peripheral immune signals, especially those driven by intestinal macrophages and systemic inflammation, shape brain immunity and susceptibility to neurodegenerative disorders. His research integrates cutting-edge in vivo models with different omic approaches to uncover novel immune mechanisms in neurodegeneration.
